
WASHINGTON, DC (March 2, 2026)–Department of Connecticut Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander Charles M. Pickett was a featured speaker addressing a veteran tribute march on the National Mall.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) national organized a Bonus Army Memorial March as part of the VFW Washington Legislative Conference. Hundreds braved a snowstorm to pay tribute to the 1932 Bonus Expeditionary Force and remind those in our nation’s capital to Honor the Contract.
Marchers mustered at the Lincoln Memorial before 5 p.m. and the procession looped around the National Mall. VFW National Sergeant-at-Arms Brian Willette led the procession in period uniform.
Pickett was given the opportunity to deliver a short address at the D.C. War Memorial, just east of the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and spoke on veteran advocacy in America.
The VFW Washington Legislative Conference is an annual legislative event where Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) leaders from across the country gather in Washington, D.C., to lobby lawmakers, hear from guest speakers, and watch the VFW Commander-in-Chief testify before a joint session of the House and Senate Committees on Veterans’ Affairs. #VFWDC2026
