VFW Special Interest Plate Committee Halfway to Goal

NEW HAVEN, CONN. (April 3, 2024)–The Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Connecticut Council of Administration, VFW Special Interest Plate Committee announced they are halfway to achieving a milestone goal to establish a branded VFW license plate.

The VFW Special Interest Plate Committee was formed in Aug. 2023 by VFWCT Commander Richard DiFederico to investigate and possibly facilitate the creation of a VFW license plate for Connecticut motor vehicles. They have set a goal of collecting 600 subscribers of VFW comrades who are interested in getting the proposed plate. More than 320 have subscribed by early April.

Committee chairman Charles M. Pickett said progress on the proposed plate has been steady but slow. Since February 1, the program been busy promoting the project.

  • The VFWCT License Plate Roadshow (Facebook) has visited 1/3 of all posts (28 of 83 chartered) and all six districts (2,499.8 miles).
  • VFWCT Post leadership has been emailed twice, a physical postcard was mailed to all 83 posts, the project flyer was in the February VFWCT correspondence mailing and promoted in one VFWCT bulk email in February.
  • Facebook boost cost $151.55 to April 2, garnering 1,042 landing page views of the project site.
  • The VFW Connecticut Plate Stats Page (https://vfwnewhaven.org/plate-stats/) has been updated, detailing which posts promote and support the proposed plate.

Pickett urged VFW Connecticut comrades to share the VFW plate page address (http://vfwplate.com/) in emails, newsletters, and on social media and invite VFW comrades to subscribe to this email list.
